How to Have a Green Christmas

We all dream of White Christmases, and we might have had a Blue Christmas without someone special, but how about the color we all are most likely to see - Green Christmas! I've been thinking of ways we can enjoy the Christmas season that also enrich our environment. For example, live Christmas trees are more sustainable than artificial, especially if they're grown nearby, and they smell delicious! And here are a few more ideas:

1) Start a family tradition which includes nature. Our family golf tradition is one great way to get outside and appreciate our beautiful surroundings. Another idea is to make an outdoor Christmas tree trimmed with bird treats like pinecones with peanut butter.

2) Give time rather than money or things. I would be absolutely thrilled to receive coupons for back-rubs or for a clean car or kitchen.

3) Regift! Some of our family members are more experienced in this than others (*cough*Mama*cough*) but regifting is an excellent way to reduce-reuse-recycle.
