~John Greenleaf Whittier

Comments:

Thanks for the great bonus blessing!  I woke up this morning thinking, too bad Susan's advent calendar doesn't go all year long!  At least you started us out on the 2009 journey.  The Advent Calendar is a priceless gift; also one that keeps on giving.
Love you, Mama

What Not to Wear - that was definitely in my top 5 Christmas presents ever.  Laura and I were looking back through First Christmas pictures, and commenting on how much better we're dressed in the past couple of years :)

I can't give away all my secrets. :-)
That really was a great gift.  Like you said, it kept on giving all year.

Hey, maybe I should give up on trying to be creative and just do the What Not to Wear every year!
How did you do the art for that?  That's really cool!

Gretchen, Reid & Charlie, I loved your comments!  I'm so glad Gretchen has the gift and enjoyment of singing; that Reid really liked his lightsaber; and I could just see Charlie hugging the tree/angel -- that was just so Charlie-ish!  See you soon, dear hearts!  Grandmama Martha

I'm looking forward to all that cooking.  Tomorrow we're making the first giant Sam's Club run for staples: 20 pound turkey, pounds of green beans, five dozen eggs, six loaves of bread, four pounds of butter--you know, just the basics.

Singing together is one of my favorite Christmas activities.  At KCA we were always singing.  At UNC, there was always someone around who could play piano, and we'd sing carols at Christmas parties (like the great Ehringhaus Nog-Nog party "room for one more, honey!").  In the SCA, I'm always hanging out with the singing people.  One year at a masqued ball, I got in with a madrigal group, and we sang all the older carols, like O Come O Come Emmanuel a cappella, during feast.  That was really cool.

Michael, that was a really good entry.  I sure agree that First Christmas is one of the highlights of our Christmas celebration; for all the reasons you mentioned.  Such good family times!  Love you, Mama

How could I forget the Christmas pageants?  I especially loved the one where we played Ernie and Bert from Sesame Street and sang "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas".  Those are wonderful memories.
Merry Christmas to you and the whole Peterson family!

Hey Susan,
Love the calendar!!! Oh, how I remember the Christmas Cookie factory at the Huntley's in Kwangju. Remember all of our Christmas Pagents that we put on for the Missionaries in the Chapel?

December 3 - you two make a fine looking couple!  I miss the ITI Christmas parties at Ruth Eckerd Hall.  It was fun to get dressed up and see everyone else dressed up.
